The Chennai-based space startup, Agnikul Cosmos Private Limited, is primed to conduct a significant test launch of its rocket, Agnibaan SOrTeD, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on March 22. This milestone event will mark India’s first launch from a private launchpad, herald India’s first semi-cryogenic engine powered rocket launch, and become the world’s first single-piece 3D printed engine designed and built indigenously.

This launch is set to rewrite the history of space exploration in India and globally. Agnibaan SOrTeD will be a poignant symbol of India’s growing dominance in space technology, especially with the pioneering use of a 3D printed engine, a feat that even the renowned Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is still in the process of perfecting.

Established in 2017 by two young aerospace engineers, Agnikul Cosmos aspires to carve an enduring legacy in the space technology realm. The startup’s mission is not merely to conquer space, but to provide a platform where innovation and experimentation flourish, reflecting their vision to create “a place where people learn to use fire” in the context of space exploration and technology.

Agnikul Cosmos’ remarkable feat is an embodiment of India’s relentless pursuit of technological advancements and its emergence as a global leader in the space sector. With vast potential and a commitment to innovation, Agnikul Cosmos is set to propel India to the forefront of the space race, underscoring the nation’s growing prowess and ambition in the domain of space technology.
