The 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championship has kicked off with the selection of the 64 teams and 16 first- and second-round sites for the championship. According to NCAA policy, the top 16 seeds are guaranteed to host if a bid was submitted and criteria are met, with matchups between conference opponents avoided in the first two rounds of the championship.
The first- and second-round competition is set to take place on May 3-4 or May 4-5, featuring four teams in a single-elimination format. The victorious team from each site will move on to the super-regional competition on May 10 or 11. Super-regional sites will host two teams in a single-elimination competition, with the winners advancing to the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where the eight teams will compete for the national championship from May 17-19, hosted by Oklahoma State University.
Following the team selections on Monday, April 29, the next phase will see the individual championship competitors announced in an NCAA.com press release on Tuesday, April 30. Action will then progress through final site competition in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The women’s team quarterfinals through the national championship, to be held at the Greenwood Tennis Center, will run from May 17-19, while the singles and doubles finals will take place thereafter from May 20-25.
With conference championships across the country concluded, teams are awaiting the NCAA Division I Selection Show to find out if they have secured their spots in the NCAA Tournament. The Men’s and Women’s Team Selection Show will take place on Monday, April 29th, followed by the Men’s and Women’s Individual Selection Show on Tuesday, April 30th. The 64-team field and the journey to the national title will unfold as the selected teams first travel to the regional championships hosted by the top 16 teams. After the Regional Championships, Super Regional play will commence to determine the eight teams qualifying for the NCAA National Championships at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma from May 16-25.
