Nvidia Launches RTX Video HDR for RTX GPU Owners

2 min read

Nvidia has unveiled a new feature for all RTX GPU owners, RTX Video HDR, as part of the 551.23 Game Ready driver release for the new RTX 4070 Ti Super launch. This feature uses AI to convert SDR color space video to HDR, promising improved video quality for users with an HDR10-compatible monitor and Windows HDR enabled.

The Video HDR feature is accessible through both Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome and has shown promising results during initial tests. Senior editor Tom Warren reported subtle improvements in color detail for 4K YouTube videos that were not originally uploaded in HDR. The effect was particularly notable on an HDR600 monitor, hinting at potential enhancements on better HDR displays. This initiative follows the success of Nvidia’s RTX Video Super Resolution, which upscales old, blurry web videos with remarkable results.

The RTX 4070 Ti Super promises to deliver significant improvements compared to its predecessor, the 4070 Ti card. Equipped with a cut-down version of NVidia’s AD104 processor, it sets itself apart from the vanilla Ti and offers users a more compelling upgrade. This model, reviewed using Asus’ ROG Strix RTX 4070 Ti Super OC, aims to provide enhanced power and value, catering to the growing demands of tech enthusiasts.

Moreover, with the imminent launch of the RTX 4080 Super, Nvidia continues to show its commitment to innovation and user satisfaction. The upcoming addition to the SUPER series marks the last desktop launch from Nvidia for the time being. Initial tests on the card suggest significant performance capabilities, with a reviewer conducting multiple Geekbench compute tests, covering three out of four available graphics APIs: Vulkan, OpenCL, and CUDA.

Nvidia’s continuous advancements in GPU technology reflect the company’s dedication to providing cutting-edge features and enhanced performance for its users. The RTX Video HDR feature, coupled with the new RTX 4070 Ti Super and the impending launch of the RTX 4080 Super, showcases Nvidia’s ongoing efforts to meet the evolving needs of its consumer base in the ever-changing landscape of technology.
