Samsung typically releases a major update for its Android skin alongside the debut of its flagship Galaxy S phone. The upcoming Galaxy S24 is expected to launch with Android 14-based One UI 6.1, bringing new AI features and enhanced battery protection. The latest leaks detail the updated battery protection features that Samsung intends to launch with One UI 6.1.

The current One UI 6 offers a battery protection option, which limits the maximum charge to 85% to extend the battery lifespan. With One UI 6.1, Samsung plans to rename this feature to Battery Protection, and introduce three customizable modes: Basic, Adapt, and Max. The Basic mode stops charging at 100% and resumes at 95%, while the Adapt mode charges the phone up to 80% and pauses until it’s time to wake up. The Max mode stops charging at 85%, known to be beneficial for the battery’s health.

One UI 6.1 is expected to be pre-installed in the upcoming Galaxy S24 lineup, which is rumored to be packed with AI-powered features. These features, including the enhanced battery protection, are part of Samsung’s efforts to improve user experience and extend the lifespan of their devices’ batteries.

One UI 6, based on Android 14, has recently become available, bringing support for UltraHDR, share menu changes, and lock screen customization options to Samsung’s Galaxy devices. Despite the slow rollout, there’s more priority on budget devices in reaching the new OS. However, leaks regarding One UI 6.1 have already started to surface. The first update in One UI 6.1 changes the Battery Protection menu and adds new customizable options.

The leaked images of the new settings menu page in One UI 6.1 show the repositioned “Battery Protection” menu, previously labeled as “Protect battery.” With the new options, users will have more control over their device’s battery charging, enabling them to optimize battery health to better suit their usage patterns.

As Samsung continues to innovate and enhance its Android skin, users can anticipate improved battery management features with the upcoming One UI 6.1 update. With the Galaxy S24 rumored to be equipped with AI-powered technology and enhanced battery protection, Samsung’s commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences is evident, setting the stage for an exciting launch in the near future.
