Former Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force, Hyderabad City) P Radhakishan Rao has confessed to his involvement in the phone tapping scandal during the BRS government in Telangana. In an explosive revelation, it has been alleged that phones belonging to media industry bigwigs, retired cops, and politicians were hacked and monitored as part of a well-funded and secretive team set up before the November state election. This operation was supposedly designed to create a dossier on then Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s political rivals. The snooping operation, reportedly under the direction of the then SIB chief T Prabhakar Rao, has implicated several high-profile individuals, including media personalities, retired police officer, and politicians from the BRS party.
Arrested on March 29 from his home in Hyderabads Banjara Hills, Mr. Rao has reportedly admitted to his involvement in this alleged illegal enterprise. The investigation has attached Radhakishan Rao’s confession statement to other documents submitted to the Nampally Criminal Court. This scandal has unveiled a web of surveillance on politicians, media personalities, and others during the BRS regime, shedding light on a complex political scandal and controversy.
